Monday, September 30, 2024 - AWAITING EMERGENCY FUEL SUPPLY

Too many texts and emails to follow up on immediately and I have to do some work that pays the bills: This blog is born so I can distribute to everyone at one time.

Have emergency fuel supply coming. He thought he'd arrive around noon with fuel for farmers and some volunteers but is having trouble finding routes into the county from where he lives in Tennessee and he's also traveling with equipment.

Gas stations are opening one at a time and quickly running out. I-40 is out a few miles west of us. I-26 is out about an hour north of Asheville. Few routes into our part of the region.

Will resume searches for contacts this afternoon after the emergency fuel supply arrives.

Summary of Situation:

Phones are coming back online. Due to fuel consumption concerns we texted all the cases we thought we could handle before we left. Many people responded. We were able to remove many cases from the list.

Did a debrief of yesterday. Decided to split teams over smaller sections and meet more regularly to reduce time spent waiting.

Decided to start with Maggie because we hadn't made it there yesterday.

Didn't see any available fuel while on our way out. When we found fuel the lines were long. Our uncle syphoned some from our mom. So, at this point things getting bleak. Violence at the pumps. Decided to call it for our safety and the safety of our teenage son.
