5:00 PM TO 8:00 PM SEARCHES IN AREAS OF BALSAM AND WAYNESVILLE. HAZELWOOD AVE. CLOSED DUE TO BRIDGE WASH OUT. ONLY GAS AVAILABLE AT EAGLES NEST BP. CASH ONLY. FOUND QUARTERS IN THE TRUCK. WAIT 1.5 HOURS FOR FUEL. FIGHTING AT PUMPS. PEOPLE HOARDING IN GAS CANS. ROADS ON PLOT CREEK OKAY. A FEW WASH OUTS. SOME POWER LINES IN ROADS. ABLE TO ACCESS ALL LOCATIONS ON MAP. 


300 PM TO 4:45 PM VOLUNTEERS RECONVENE AT FOOD LION PARKING LOT IN CLYDE TO USE STARLINK, DEBRIEF ON CONTACTS MADE, UPDATE ANNIE ON CASES CLEARED. ONE TEAM TOOK A LONG TIME TO RETURN. ROAD THROUGH CANTON CLOSED. HAD TO GO AROUND AND THIS ADDED TO TIME. GAME PLAN FOR SECOND HALF OF DAY. CLEARED 26 REQUESTS IN RURAL NORTHERN PART OF COUNTY, CRABTREE, WATERWHEEL COVE, FINES CREEK AREAS, CANTON, CLYDE. 



12:00 PM - SEARCHES BEGIN - COUNT NOW AT 52 REQUESTS. UNABLE TO REACH CRUSO REQUESTS VIA 276. LOTS OF CLOSURES OFF UPPER CRABTREE AND LINER CREEK ROADS. MANY BRIDGES DAMAGED OR GONE. PARTS OF ROAD WASHED OUT. CRABTREE CREEK APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN 60 FT WIDE IN PLACES. CRABTREE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT ACTIVELY VISITING HOMES.
