ASHEVILLE KEEPS MAKING THE NEWS. DON'T FORGET THE REST OF THE REGION

People keep texting and messaging asking "How can I help?" and they keep mentioning Asheville. 

Our community is not receiving the same resources as Asheville. They are in the spotlight. 

Please keep in mind that Helene affected areas well beyond Asheville and those areas need donations too. Consider places like our own Haywood County, Boone, Lake Lure, Burnsville, Erwin or Newport (both Tennesee), or grab a map and throw a dart and donate money and resources to a community I haven't mentioned. 

There are so many that need help and, while we love Asheville, I'm worried that the news of damage in surrounding areas is getting lost in the headlines. 

That said, Jeremy and I did notice yesterday that out-of-state emergency services vehicles are beginning to arrive - we saw at least three different organizations from different states - and we saw a FEMA van. 

While I'm here, I know people have the best of intentions by wanting to come and physically assist. We have human capital. We have lots of able-bodied people. If you come here you will occupy rooms needed to house people whose homes are now in pieces in trees along the Pigeon River. We love all of you, but need you to love us from afar for now.

October 16th Updates

A lot has changed and it isn't always evident if you drive down Main Street in Waynesville. Most of the signs of devastation begin a few...
